TANZANIAN ARTISTS

MR. ROBINO NTILA AT  THE EXHIBITIONS OF LEGENDARY ARTISTS OF AFRICA IN NAIROBI GALLERY AT KENYA GIVING A SPEECH ON HOW ARTISTS FROM TANZANIA PASSES THROUGH CHALLENGES AND HOW THEY CONQUER THEM TO BE WHERE THEY ARE. THE EXHIBITION HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 15th OF JUNE  2020.BUT DUE TO CORONA VIRUS CRISIS THE EXHIBITION HAS BEEN PUT ON HOLD TILL FURTHER NOTICE.

ARTIST & CURATOR: Robino  Ntila
born in 1953 in the town of Ndanda ,in the Mtwara .Robino came to Dar es salaam in the 1970's .He is a veteran of the Nyumba ya sanaa(House of Art) artists association. While there he learnt painting,print making and other techniques and worked as an artist and chief coordinator. His Art brought him more than 10 times to Austria where he specialized in etching techniques. During studies he perfected his skills in those techniques and now is one of the most eminent artists in this field in Eastern and Southern Africa.

                                                                                                             
AUGUSTINO MALABA 




Aggrey MWASHAAggrey Mwasha is born in 1969 at Kilimanjaro Region. He started to paint when he was ten. He used colours which he extracted from different plants. He won the first price in the World Food Day drawing competition organized by FAO. He participated in exhibition in Artpurha in Finland. He participated in different workshops, one of them with Dutch artist Mrs. Els Waigers in 2002. Now he is manager of Wasanii Art Centre, open space gallery supported by American and Italian Embassy and run by artists themselves.

Kimbokota; Sanaa ya Ubunifu haijawekezwa ipasavyo Mashuleni ...Safina Said Kimbokota, born in 1982 in Lindi Region, Tanzania, is a contemporary sculptor and painter currently working in Dar-es- Salaam, Tanzania. She moved to Dar-es- salaam at the age of eight and has lived in Dar-es- salaam since then. She was born into a very creative family where her mother was a creative person and she was influenced from an early age by the wide range of creative expressions going on around her. She was encouraged to explore a variety of interests throughout her childhood but it was not until her final year of secondary school that she realized her passion for fine art.INHERITANCE EXHIBITION - NAFASI ART SPACE

In 2001, she began her studies at the Namasagali College in Jinja, Uganda. She then attended the Bagamoyo College of Arts in Bagamoyo followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011 at the University of Dar-es- Salaam in Tanzania. Since graduating she has been concentrating on developing a career as both a painter and a sculptor. She is a member of several organizations TNC for (AIAP), WAC (Women Are Creators), (FPASA) Fine and Performing Students Association), as well as having been involved in a variety of workshops, projects and group exhibitions inside and outside Africa.




Augustino Mwanga is one of the major artists in Makonde sculpture, and he creates works related to fertility. He belongs to the Makonde tribe and started leaning half-abstract sculpture when he was 15 years old.He has done several exhibitions around Germany,and has participated in many art competitions.

Augustino currently produces half-abstract sculptural works that have flowing lines. This exhibition features his works with motifs such as maternal figures and the water fairy.The cloud series is his current work.
